What is the JLDN National Lightning Observation Network?
We conduct accurate and reliable lightning observations in real-time, 24 hours a day.
JLDN (Japanese Lightning Detection Network) is a nationwide lightning observation network operated by Franklin Japan. It consists of 31 sensors from Hokkaido to Okinawa, creating an observation network that seamlessly covers all of Japan. The lightning location accuracy of JLDN has an average positional error of less than 300 meters, which is comparable to large-scale lightning observation networks such as NALDN (North America) and EUCLID (Europe). 【Data Utilization Examples】 ■ Social Infrastructure ■ Protection of Human Life ■ Industry ■ Accident Investigation ■ Research Institutions ■ Media *For more details, please refer to the PDF materials or feel free to contact us.
